Filed under: Dummy Cameras — admin @ 11:54 am

With the very real increased ‘risk’ that burglaries will rise during 2012, many home, shop and business owners may be wishing to beef up their security. This is simply not the case, as there are cost-effective, alternative solutions, available to purchase that can help you to beat burglars on a budget.

When it comes to protecting your possessions, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras have to be one of the best deterrents in home and office securityas no thief would be willing to take the risk of being caught on camera. The downside to this, is that some owners may think that installing these high definition cameras and recording equipment may be out of their price range, but you can keep costs down, and still give the illusion that you employ the use of recording equipment on your premises by using Dummy CCTV Cameras.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we have a carefully selected range of perfect dummy cameras that will help protect your home, office or shop from any opportunistic thief. As many of our dummy cameras are manufactured from real camera housing’s, this makes it near impossible to tell the difference from which are real and which are fake – so for a fraction of the price you CAN beat the burglars on a budget.

Alert Pal The Ultimate Plug And Play Security Device

Filed under: Burglar Alarms — admin @ 3:57 pm

Burglaries tend to happen quickly, well, the most opportunistic ones do… An open window or poorly secured door is noticed and within minutes, some person(s) are in and out of the property and off with someone else’s valuables.

In these instances, it’s very unlikely the offenders will have been spotted and the likelihood of being caught and the goods returned very slim indeed.

Now, what if you could install an affordable security device in just a matter of minutes which could send you images of a break-in of your property in progress direct to your phone. Not only that, it will also let you hear live audio, works off it’s own power plus it’s extremely portable, so can be used in garages, caravans, boats, workshop or farm buldings as well as in the home and office buildings.

Quite impressive, eh?

This is why at CPP, we want to introduce to you, the ultimate in plug and play home security devices – The AlertPal!

The AlertPal is a complete GSM Fire and Security System and because of its portability can be used almost anywhere. It’s very easy to set up, and works from a PAYG Sim card on either O2 – ORANGE or the VODAFONE network. Simply install the 2 door or window detectors, the smoke detector, configure the AlertPal system by sending a few simple text messages to the camera and you’re good to go.

You can read more about the AlertPal by clicking the link.

Watch Out For Fake Banknotes

Filed under: Counterfeit Detection — admin @ 11:56 am

Most local and high street shops have been selling goods at bargain prices to help save their financial future in the run-up to xmas. With money being tight and the cost of fuel, utilities, rates and rent rising, most shops will be just be managing to keep their heads above water. Every penny counts, and as they head to the bank with their daily takings – the last thing they’ll need to hear is that they’ve sold goods on and received fake banknotes in exchange.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we’ve written several articles explaining the dangers of receiving counterfeit money and the fact that once you receive this fake money you are legally bound to hand it into the bank. Even worse news for the shop owners, is that once the ‘fake banknotes’ is handed back, there is no compensation and little chance of receiving the goods back to resell.

Crime Prevention Products wish everyone to have a very prosperous New Year and to help ensure that every penny taken over the counter is legitimate we stock a vast array of Counterfeit Detection products.

Burglars To Do List Highlights Home Security Weaknesses

Filed under: Crime News — admin @ 3:08 pm

Earlier in the month, we wrote an article depicting what might be on a burglars top 10 wish list and the frequency in which homes are burgled in the UK. It may have surprised a few readers to find out that home burglaries have risen by 14% and that a UK home is burgled (or attempted) every 43 seconds.

Every homeowner has to be seriously aware that someone might be ‘casing’ their home for weaknesses in order to gain entry, especially around Christmas and New Year.

A recent article published in The Telegraph (source) explains how Police in Manchester issued a warning to local residents after they found a burglar’s ‘To-Do’ list.

The list detailed how, when and where to obtain certain ‘gifts’ such as one resident who kept the keys to their SAAB behind an open kitchen window. Other targets on the list included ‘money that was kept on a fireplace’ and where to find bicycles, laptops, cars, vans, TV’s and even wallets. Police believe that this thief had been busy ‘casing’ joints and must have been peering into people’s homes to obtain this information.

Home security is paramount all through the year, which is why we supply trusted home alarm systems, outdoor/indoor security lights, driveway alarms and so much more… All specifically designed to alert and protect your home from someone approaching and illegaly entering your property.

At Crime Prevention Products we wish everyone to have a safe and Happy Christmas and enjoy the gifts for whom they were intended – and not some sneak thief.

It’s Going To Be A Dim 2012 As Councils Cut Street Lights

Filed under: Crime News — admin @ 1:22 pm

Its been a topic of conversation for some time now, with councils up-and-down the country implementing or discussing plans to recoup/save some money by dimming, removing or switching off street lighting from midnight until 5am. Of-course, it’s a controversial decision which has caused much debate.

Councils need to cut costs and they see streetlighting as an efficient way of cutting back. Kent County Council, for example, has 118,500 streetlights which costs them in the region of £5.1m yearly. By switching off an estimated 70,000 lights, during the twilight hours, will save the council around £765,000. You can see why it is an attractive proposition which most councils are eager to rubber stamp.

But what about the concerns, over crime and road accidents?

A number of automobile authorities have warned that reducing visibility at night by removing/dimming/switching off streetlights will greatly heighten the risk of road accidents in the areas affected.

But there is also another danger, when street illuminance decreases, and that’s the risk of personal attacks or sexual assaults rising. Especially over the festive period. Party revellers heading home alone, may feel vulnerable and open to attack.

If you’re heading out as the party season begins, here are a few safety considerations you should think about before you step-out…Try to plan your return route home, arrange for a taxi to pick you up if necessary, don’t overdo the alcohol, carry a personal attack alarm, know your surroundings and keep to well-lit streets (although that might prove to be easier-said-than-done in the months and years ahead).

One of the most harrowing ordeals that any home owner has to face is the prospect that someone may enter their property without their consent. Statistics show that every 43 seconds, an attempted burglary takes place in the UK. Make A Mark On Your Possessions

Filed under: Home Security — admin @ 3:55 pm

Remember the days when you were happy to receive just one main Christmas present? Oh, how have times changed! Parents and Grandparents, nowadays, spend small fortunes on making sure our kids ‘want for nothing’! Of-course, you can point the finger of blame to commercialism or ‘Pester Power‘ or just ‘overdoing it for the sake of overdoing it‘. Fact is, with many gifts costing in excess of £100 per item, it’s no wonder parents are anxious to protect their kids’ gifts long after the Christmas day euphoria has passed.

As parents we’re only to aware that our children are notorious for leaving/dumping toys and bikes in the front garden or driveway, heck even in the street… in full view of any opportunistic thief that just happens to be passing by. These thieves may not be part of any organised crime syndicate, they may be children from another estate or town or just someone wanting to make some quick, easy money down the local pub.

Every year millions of pounds of stolen property is recovered by the police and other government bodies, however, identifying the owners can prove to be a bit more tricky. One of the best ways to help make sure your property is identifiable is to place a special mark on it, a unique mark that only you will know – such as your postcode. Crime Prevention Products can supply various Property Marking Kits that will ensure that if your possessions are stolen and recovered they have at least a chance of being returned to you.
