With the winter nights drawing in, the period of late night shopping begins and here at CPP we want to turn your attention to keeping yourselves and your money safe! Many shoppers seem to become complacent when in a hurry and let’s be honest when it’s dark and the weather is foul all we want is to get home where we feel safe and warm.
Christmas shopping is not only when we buy gifts for our loved ones it’s when thieves work their best under the cover of darkness and take advantage of peoples disregard for their own safety. We leave our bags and purses open to pay for goods, unawares and with little knowledge of who is watching us. There are simple precautions that you can do to protect yourself and your possessions when out late night shopping:
Try not to go to the ‘hole in the wall’ banking facility, go inside if possible and only take a small amount of money out, when in the market place never open your purse in front of strangers, keep it close to you, never try and open your bag and purse with thick gloves on you will not be able to feel if you have closed it properly.
Handbag alarms are a great deterrent, although they will not stop the thief from taking your handbag they will have an 110Db+ alarm following then down the street. In many cases a thief would rather drop the ‘wailing banshee’ bag than continue running with it, as the majority of thieves do’nt want to draw this kind of attention to themselves.
Don’t become a statistic in the crime books, by following simple precautions you will save yourself from a lot of heartache. Lets make shopping a joyful occasion, don’t give thieves a chance.
