What is it about the British on holiday, after all we’re not a nation of silly people, in fact on the continent we are regarded as prim and proper and having that ‘stiff upper lip’. So, why is it when we head off on our annual leave some of us do our best to embarrass ourselves by getting very, very drunk, fighting and scrape the barrel when it comes to lewd and loud behaviour.
It is unnerving to hear that the number of Britons arrested abroad is on the increase and Spain has seen a rise by almost a third (source).
Sure, the holiday atmosphere, hot weather and too much alcohol has the ability to turn the shyest of people into drunk’n louts shouting and screaming down local streets. Most bad behaviour can be put down to the ‘holiday spirit‘ and a way for people to forget the pressures and stresses of their daily work life.
It is a sobering thought to think that such a fun time could turn horrendous with all the alcohol and partying, remember there are people that will try and take advantage of the situation. If you are going to visit foreign shores, camp sites, or just the local pub this summertime, make sure you are properly protected.
A personal alarm could give you enough time to escape from an akward situation or perhaps sober your assailant up when activated. Keep yourself safe, keep yourself protected and keep in mind that preventative care is the best type of insurance you can take out against yourself when out partying abroad.
