Over the weekend hundreds of thousands of kids will be descending onto our streets all dressed up, screaming, shouting, laughing and some will be coming to chap your door, trick or treating.
In general Halloween is a good time for adults as well as for children with many people now opting to have Halloween parties. Problems arise when people have too much alcohol and trouble flairs up. As a parent you have a responsibility to look after your own children.
There are some general safety tips that can be followed to ensure that everyone has a great time trick or treating:
- Always have a trustworthy adult or teen to accompany the kids round the street.
- Always have an idea of the houses that they are going to visit and the route that they are taking. Never venture into streets that you don’t know.
- If attending Halloween parties assign a responsible person to look after the kid’s as with most parties adults like to have a drink. It is better to have made plans previous to attending any parties. i.e. some one responsible to take care of the kids and arrange a lift home.
- Explain the pressures that some might come under to do ‘damage’ in the name of having a good laugh and the trouble that it can cause.
Halloween is meant to be a good laugh for all, think about your actions!
