Over the next few months, for many, it won’t be safe to venture into their gardens after dark, this is especially true for the older generation. Plant pots hidden in the dark, raised flower beds or broken paths all become potential hazards for a fall but one of the main reasons is they are simply frightened.
It is natural for people to think that the light and warmth of their homes is their security, once they close their curtains at night they believe they are safe from harm. Unfortunately, thieves don’t think like that, they prefer the dark, in-fact the darker the better.
Most house thieves drive round neighbourhoods looking to see which gardens are lit up and which are not, remember thieves don’t like to be seen. Security lights can add that something special to your garden during the winter months, not only will it light up all the dangers in your garden like uneven walk ways, protruding walls and obstacles it can also fill your garden with a calming atmosphere.
Security lighting that have PIR (Passive Infra-Red) or motion sensors are great for welcoming your guests into your yard, they offer them that extra security as they approach your door, in the same way unwelcomed visitors might not want to be seen so they will walk past your house.
Using security lighting in your garden can turn it from a dark ‘no go’ area into a safe and secure environment that warms up the dark winter nights.
