Christmas Spirit Gone Bad

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 4:01 pm

Over the next few weeks, Britain will be progressing into party season mode with office and workplace parties. Yes, it’s that time of the year when management share a few drinks with employees and everyone, supposedly, is having a great time as the festive spirit starts to take hold.

Normally, a few red faces emerge after the Christmas night out, as stories and mobile snaps of unsuitable behaviour is passed around the office or workplace. In many cases this will be as far as it goes and it will all be taken in good humour.

However, there is a darker side to the Christmas Party, for each year there are thousands of woman and men, that are raped or assaulted due to a drunken festive night has been taken too far.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we know that everyone loves a good night out, we also understand that all too often men and women can misinterpret the signals given out by others due to an excessive night of drinking. If you don’t want someone’s advances to go any further than one of the best ways is to alert passers by that you are in situation that you would rather not be in. Crime Prevention Products offer a wide range rape alarms that will fit discreetly into your bag or pocket no matter the size.

Halloween Personal Alarms

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 9:21 am

With Halloween just around the corner, there is bound to be a spate of fancy dress parties taking place all over the country. Many revellers will be dressed up in some fantastic costumes and expect to have a good time drinking and partying the night away. One of the biggest problems with Halloween costumes for females is that some costumes can be “low cut and sexy” & expect the girl to be scantily dressed. It’s all part of the good fun and nature of Halloween.

Problems arise, however, when individuals see this as an invitation to take advantage of the situation and take it a bit too far. If you’re heading out this Halloween to a University, College, Pub or Club bash then consider taking a personal alarm with you. This small device will alert anyone that is passing that you require assistance. Crime Prevention Products have a range of Personal Rape Alarms that will fit discretely into your bag (no matter how small it is).

Keeping Safe While Training Outside At Night

Filed under: Personal Alarms,Personal Safety — admin @ 9:42 am

Over the year, how many times do people say “I really have to lose weight!” It’s no wonder really, as we’re flooded with adverts on television and pictures in magazines showing models with their ‘perfect’ (more likely photoshopped) figures we feel obliged to fight the flab ourselves and lose weight.

Of course, dieting will help you lose some weight but the truth is that exercising will increase your chances of achieving your ideal goal and help firm the body – making you feel and look fitter.

Joining a local gym, can be expensive, which is why so many of us will simply pull on a jogging suit or hooded top and go out for a walk or short run each night. However there is a darker side to night time training, as there may be some that are only too happy to take advantage of people out exercising on their own.

If you want to head out at night and do some evening training, use the following safety precautions and guidelines to help lower the risk of being attacked while out running:

  • If you have long hair don’t have it tied back in a pony tail as this will make it easier for someone to pull you back.
  • Most people will have their trusty MP3 player going in their ear, playing this and you will be unaware that someone is coming up behind you. Always be aware of your surroundings! Using an iPod or MP3 players dulls your sense of hearing leaving you open to attack.
  • Stay away from areas that are poorly lit.
  • Always let someone know where you are.
  • Best of all try to exercise with a group of people.
  • If you are going to run yourself at night – then take a personal alarm along for the journey or even better a Sports Sponge Alarm which will alert people that you are in need of assistance.

Following these simple but effective precautions will not only help you achieve your goal but most importantly can save your life.

Give a Heart an Alarm

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 7:53 am

In September, many young women will be looking forward to going to College or University. Moving out of the family home, making new friends and not forgetting the social evenings, can all prove to be a bit overwhelming for some. While others will relish in all the attention as late evenings and constant partying helps them forget the pressures of exams.

When it comes to personal protection, a high number of young women will take on the attitude “It will never happen to me!” However, as we all know, this is drastically the wrong attitude to take but try explaining that to a headstrong young woman. If you offer them a rape alarm or personal attack alarm they’ll probably take it but some will never carry it with them, spouting things like, “It’s not fashionable” or bury the alarm at the bottom of their handbag.

To combat this, have a look at the Heart Keyring Personal Alarm, this personal alarm looks like a fashionable accessory, however, it’s practicable as well, as it sounds out an ear piercing 128db which will help alert others in times of need. Now, there can be no excuses between looking stylish and keeping safe.

Personal Alarms for Joggers

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 12:03 pm

How many of us have just returned home from their annual holidays only to find that their everyday clothes are now a little more tighter than you remembered. All that holiday drinking and eating excess has eventually taken its toll. It’s just about this point that you make a conscious decision to actively lose weight, and, as we all know, joining a gym can be a costly experience.

The alternative to paying expensive gym prices is to go running/jogging/walking round their local parks, football pitches or even country woods. Exercise is good for everyone, it makes you fitter, mentaly tougher and you do lose weight. However, there can be a downside to outdoors excercise. With many parks and woods being poorly lit there are some people whom are only too happy to take advantage of this situation.

When it comes to training at night, personal protection is a must, and with the dark nights coming soon now is the ideal time to purchase your personal alarm for next time your out jogging alone or with friends.

Feel Safer With A Personal Alarm

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 9:24 am

What is about a small device measuring no more than a couple of inches square that can make people feel much safer whilst walking alone to the shops, home from a friends house or even on a night out. In today’s world, personal safety has to be one of the biggest concerns that we face and it’s not only women and the elderly but this also applies to teenagers and men. Personal alarms have the ability to give many people the peace of mind they require to go about their daily business.

Personal alarms
work by emitting a loud, high-pitched noise which will disturb you attacker thus giving you the time required to make your escape or even better let passers by know that you need assistance.

As the purpose of a Personal Alarm is to frighten and alert then the louder the better. We at Crime Prevention Products have some of the loudest most compact personal alarms on the market sounding out a powerful 120, 130 and even 140 decibels.

Know Your Limits Abroad

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 8:56 am

What is it about the British on holiday, after all we’re not a nation of silly people, in fact on the continent we are regarded as prim and proper and having that ‘stiff upper lip’. So, why is it when we head off on our annual leave some of us do our best to embarrass ourselves by getting very, very drunk, fighting and scrape the barrel when it comes to lewd and loud behaviour.

It is unnerving to hear that the number of Britons arrested abroad is on the increase and Spain has seen a rise by almost a third (source).

Sure, the holiday atmosphere, hot weather and too much alcohol has the ability to turn the shyest of people into drunk’n louts shouting and screaming down local streets. Most bad behaviour can be put down to the ‘holiday spirit‘ and a way for people to forget the pressures and stresses of their daily work life.

Stay Safe With Rape Alarms

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 10:15 am

In a months time most of England’s men folk will be found sitting by their televisions cheering on their country. The football world cup has the ability to bring everyone together, family, friends and neighbours will be shouting, crying even hugging together as they cheer on the fortunes of the Three Lions.

With all this male bonding going on what will the women do? No doubt a proportion will also join in the football spirit. However, most will probably head out around round town/city with their mates. As England don’t play till late evening this means that many woman could be heading out on their own.

Think Streetwise Be Streetsmart

Filed under: Personal Alarms,Personal Safety — admin @ 1:07 pm

As a parent I am constantly looking out for my kids, teaching them what’s right from wrong, and hopefully given them a chance to grow into respectable individuals. As they grow, I hope they’ll have an understanding of what ‘streetwise’ and ‘streetsmart’ is all about (and that just doesn’t mean they know what to do when it comes to crossing the road or finding their way to the shops).

Being streetwise in today’s society is all about safety and knowing what to do in certain situations and most of all trusting your instincts.

Filed under: Personal Alarms — admin @ 12:51 pm

There may be times in your life when you feel threatened by either someone invading your personal space, anti-social behaviour or just gangs of people standing outside your home.
