Stop Your Merchandise From Sprouting Legs And Walking Out The Door

As a company director one of the biggest headaches in any workplace is that of theft, we all know that pens, pencils and the occasional paper punch do go missing, but what are you to do when the theft happens to be laptops and computer software. Millions of pounds of merchandise simply walk out of factories every year but as a director what are you to do? As you cannot watch 100% of your employees 100% of the time.

Many business install burglar alarms, PIR lighting, window and door alarms – these security measures are all great when the premisses are empty and do deter attempted theft but what can you do when employees are busy at work?

Keeping up Appearances

shopliftingIt has been reported that due to the recession, middle class woman are feeling the effects more than most; convenience and speciality food stores are being targeted as high priced cheeses and best cuts of beef are simply going missing, these branded high end foods are being stolen to be eaten rather than to be sold on as these woman try to “keep up with the Joneses” (source).

At the moment Britain tops the shoplifting table across Europe, with almost £5 billion disappearing out our shops doors each year. That’s an increase of almost 20% on 2008 figures. Most hit are clothes and accessories shops with designer shops being targeted more and more, then DIY stores. The report also says “The UK’s retail industry has seen its largest ever increase in shoplifting over the last 12 months, and it comes at a time when the industry can least afford it.
