Don’t Lose Your Luggage On your Winter and Christmas Getaways

Filed under: Travel Security — admin @ 1:59 pm

As we start to slide into winter, our thoughts turn to what might the weather hold for us this season. The past couple of years has seen the UK crippled by the coldest winters in 45 years and one forecaster, Anthony McEvoy (a long range weather forecaster), has predicted more of the same for the months of November, December and January ahead.

Yet, despite talk/speculation that we’re heading for another severe winter there will be over half a million lucky souls who’ll be flying out from our countries major airports (hopefully) to celebrate the festive holidays elsewhere.

One popular winter destination is the “City that Never Sleeps” – New York! With thousands of UK residents heading there for either pre-Christmas shopping or just to visit the many sights the city has to offer.

One of the biggest obstacles, we have to face when landing in a foreign country is the ‘dreaded baggage carousel‘ within the crowded terminal building. Many holidays have been ruined at this very moment when cases vanish, disappear or in all the haste you accidentally lift someone else’s luggage.

When it comes to recognising and claiming your luggage at any international airport, we at Crime Prevention Products have the perfect device for you… The Wordlock Luggage Padlock in Pink! This Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved lock will not only protect your luggage but will make it easy for you to recognise your baggage at any airport.

What makes the Wordlock Luggage Padlock different is that instead of difficult numbers to remember or a ‘small’ key that can be easily lost or forced open all you have to do is remember a simple four letter combination.

The Wordlock Luggage Padlock is the essential xmas stocking filler for all serious travellers. What’s more this product is available for International shipping.

Have a Safe Halloween

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 12:49 pm

As we approach the end of October, children up and down the country will be adorning some strange and wonderful costumes in an attempt to frighten family members and neighbours. On Halloween night, thousands of costumed kids will head out to fill their Halloween Bag full of ‘sweets, toffee apples, tablet and other treats‘.

Even though many neighbours love this time of year and warmly welcome the ‘antics of children’ as they chap doors in the neighbourhood and shout ‘trick or treat‘ there are still a few precautions that are best followed in order to make it a properly safe halloween night.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we know that everyone loves this time of year, however we also understand that there are many dangers lurking in every city, town or village, just waiting to take advantage on any unprepared ‘Ghosts and Ghouls‘.

So, whilst you are out and about, it’s best to remember :

  • Never leave your own neighbourhood unless you’re with an adult or a responsible person.
  • Always stay on the pavements and make sure streets which you visit are well lit.
  • Never enter a strangers house.
  • Never just run across a main road, always look left, right and left again.
  • If you’re crossing a busy road always remove your face mask. Face masks can restrict your view and you might not see that oncoming vehicle.

By NOT following these simple but effective Halloween Safety Rules you may lose more than your sweets, treats and toffee apples. Stay safe!

British Shops Count The Cost Of Crime

Filed under: Crime News — admin @ 10:59 am

It’s been a rough ride for shop owners during the last couple of years. Those that survived the recession then had to put-up with rising costs of goods and falling numbers at the checkout as customers found they had to budget more in a bid to beat the cost of living rising daily.

Small shops not only suffered but large stores and retailers hurt as well. You only need to take a short stroll up any high street to see the obvious fall-out of failed businesses boarded-up and shut for good.

On the back of this, a new report which has just been released, informs us that UK high street lost an estimated £4.9bn in the past 12 months to crime related acts such as shoplifting, fraud, organised retail crime and administrative errors. A rise of 6.9% from the previous year according to The Global Retail Theft Barometer (www.globalretailtheftbarometer.com).

Shoplifting accounted for 43.8 per cent of the estimated £4.9bn lost in the retail sector. It also highlighted that the average cost each shoplifter would steal was around £79. Shoplifters had a preferred taste for ‘branded merchandise that could be resold‘ easily and quickly. Most likely to feature on the shopping list of a shoplifter aside from branded clothes was cosmetics, diy products, video games and food with cheese being shoplifted three times more in the UK than the global average.

As you know, we at Crime Prevention Products like to think that taking preventative measures is the best way of tackling crime. Which is why we stock and sell CCTV Systems, Dummy Cameras and Counterfeit Detection products all very pro-active in helping to tackle shoplifting and fraud for all types of shop owners from the smallest to the largest found on our high streets today.

Our products are available for international shipping, furthermore clients can now pay in Euros or $US Dollars.

The Perfect Handbag Accessory

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 2:26 pm

In just a couple of months time many directors, managers and employees will be heading out to either their local bar, restaurant or club in order to celebrate their companies annual Christmas party. This is one of the few occasions where managers and employees can forget all about the pressures of everyday work thus allowing them to let their hair down and relax. This is also a time when many employees see this as the perfect opportunity to treat themselves and spend their hard earned cash on a new xmas outfit.

Alongside those new togs there is one accessory that always turns heads and that’s a new designer handbag (which may have cost a small fortune). Although it’s not just those with a keen fashion sense who will have noticed your new bag – opportunistic thieves may also show their appreciation and will be keen to see it close-up as well as the contents of you’re handbag.

No one likes to place their new (or old) handbag on a wet, dirty floor where it may be accidentally kicked under a table and even out of sight. That’s why we at Crime Prevention Products can supply you with the perfect handbag accessory the Handbag Keep-Safe Hook With Compact Mirror… This simple device will keep any handbag well out the way of dirty floors and more importantly in easy sight of its owner.

With the average contents of a handbag totalling around £350 – never mind the purchase price of the bag itself – it’s worth making sure you keep your handbag safe whilst looking good at the same time.

Make Stalkers See Red With The Mace UV Defence Spray

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 12:40 pm

In recent months there have been numerous stories in our media regarding the rising trend in people being stalked. Ranging from famous footballers to gay communities it has to one of the most frightening experiences for a person to endure that someone is stalking you! Stalking just doesn’t happen in the real world either as Cyber Stalking is a growing concern and brings its own challenges for the authorities to stamp-out.

Facts Regarding Stalking in the UK:

  • Over 1.2 million women and 900,000 men are stalked every year according to The British Crime Survey 2004.
  • 8% of women and 6% of men are stalked every year.
  • 19% of women and 12% of men have experienced stalking or harassment at some point in their lives.

(source)

In a recent study carried out by Napo (the probation officers union) found that victims of stalking were being failed by our legal system. The study which is the first of it’s kind shows that sentences handed down to stalkers have been far to lenient. In fact last year in Britain there were 120,000 cases of stalking in which 53,000 were reported as a crime, however only 2% of the offenders were given a custodial sentence and a further 10% had to do community service or handed a fine. (source)

Crime Prevention Products understand that everyone deserves the right to their freedom whether it’s walking to the shops or enjoying yourself on a night out. That’s why we supply a host of personal security devices such as Defence Sprays which can cover your attacker in a bright red UV dye not only giving you time to react and escape but also help the authorities identify the culprit even days later as the dye is very, very stubborn to remove.

GPS Tracking for Bicycles is Here!!!

Filed under: Bike Security — admin @ 11:40 am

Over the last week or so, most of the people in the British Isles have been experiencing some of the best weather to be found anywhere in Europe, in fact last weekend we saw a new record for the 1st of October with the thermometer nearly tipping 30°C. With the returning ‘summer sun’ many people found themselves ‘dusting’ off their summer clothes and heading out with their families to local beaches and parks to take full advantage of this unseasonable weather before Autumn really bites…

With the welcomed summer weather many employees also found themselves leaving the car at home and cycling to their place of work which not only keeps them fit, but is a more economical and environmental way to travel.

However, the main concern for many bike owners is that they are seen as easy targets by thieves! Unfortunately, even with proper protection such as sturdy bike locks can be broken and chains cut by professional bike thieves and your 2-wheeled prized possession will be gone in a matter of seconds.

Apart from making your bike less attractive for bike thieves to nick, Crime Prevention Products have the perfect answer to your bikes security – The Bicycle Security Cycle Tracker – this simple device (which also doubles as a rear light) will track your bike anywhere in the world through a worldwide tracking system thus allowing you to log onto the relevant webpage and see where your bicycle is currently positioned.

This product is available for international shipping, furthermore clients can now pay in Euros or $US Dollars.

Indian Summer Good News For Burglars

Filed under: Crime News — admin @ 12:04 pm

With parts of the UK undergoing an Indian Summer – temperatures have hit the high 20′s – weather forecasters have highlighted the current spell of warm weather is set to continue into the week. At CPP we want to pass on a message which the Police have issued regarding home security.

Burglaries through open or unlocked doors and windows can occur during hot spells and can often be prevented with a little extra vigilance.

  • Make sure your doors and windows are secured when you are out, overnight or in another part of your property.
  • If you are tidying up in your front garden, make sure your back door has not been left insecure – it only takes a moment for an opportunist thief to come in, take small valuables and leave un-noticed.
  • Do not leave car keys, handbags, mobile phones etc in an easily accessible or visible locations, for example near an open window. This could tempt someone to reach in through the window and take your property.
  • Lock your garden tools away and use a good quality padlock to secure garden sheds and outbuildings. Un-secured garden tools can be used to gain entry into your property.
  • Make sure any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the Police on their local number, or in an emergency on 999 or call crimestoppers on 0800 555 11. Where possible try to obtain a description of the person(s) and the make, model, colour and registration number of any vehicle.

Please, let’s enjoy this unexpected warm weather without making it an Indian Summer to remember for burglars.
