What cost would you put on your life or a member of your family? How many people have serious medical conditions or potentially life threatening allergy’s. We all seem to take that ‘it wont happen to me’ attitude when it comes to some medical conditions.
But just for 1 moment imagine if you suffered from a nut allergy and were enjoying a meal at a restaurant or cafe only to find that it had nut traces in it… you start to feel sick, you start to sweat, its getting harder to breath, you feel as if your throat is closing. Before you pass out you hear people saying what is wrong, is it their heart? Vital seconds are passing by, in a life threatening situation that is the difference between life and death!

When we talk about home security we automatically think about burglar alarms, window locks and driveway monitors but there is much more to home security than just protecting you and your possessions against theft. Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide monitors and fire blankets are just as important at protecting your family home.
Majority of houses in the UK have been fitted with smoke detectors, but how many of those smoke detectors actually have batteries in them? A good number of deaths caused by house fires could have been prevented if only the batteries within the smoke detectors had not been removed or ran out.
Nowadays, many of the good smoke alarms have been fitted with a 10 year lithium battery, so no need to change, just check it once a week by ‘pushing the button’ and some simple maintenance such as cleaning (*hint : use a vacuum for this) the sensor.

With the recent crime figures showing that robbery and burglary are on the increase (source) you won’t be alone in thinking about additional home security measures to help protect your home. We have talked before here on the CPP Blog about using security markers for your possessions and personal attack alarms for you and your family as handy, reliable home security measures.
However, wouldn’t it be good if you could actually hear people or cars coming up your drive or approaching your home. Driveway Alarms are an ideal way to help alert you that someone is approaching your home, garage or garden shed. Many of the driveway alarm systems available can have extra sensors attached so you can protect multiple areas of you property from the same source.
Driveway alarm systems work by placing sensors in the areas which you want to protect. These sensors send out an invisible beam of light, which when broken by a person or car or some other object fires off an audible and lighted signal to the base unit alerting the home owner.
Once alerted by the Driveway Alarm a person is then prepared to see who is approaching, and if required can call the authorities. Simple and easy to set up, these driveway alarm systems will help protect your family and possessions by deterring thieves or burglars.
It has been reported in the Daily Telegraph that crime has hit a new high, this is now the highest since 1994 – in the last year nearly a quarter of all adults in the UK have been a victim of either pick pocketing, shoplifting or robbery according to the British Crime Survey. This is extremely disturbing News for the Home Office who have been accused already this year of ‘masking statistics’.

With the school summer break up on the horizon, many local residents are awaiting another summer full of underage drinkers and the carnage that this social smudge brings. Kids hanging around bored due to the lack of local facilities, coupled with hot weather and alchohol is an explosive mixture waiting to happen.
Police forces recognise this and some have started to make regular trips past known underage drinking ‘hotspots’. Only last week, the Police in Port Glasgow, had a clamp down on underage drinking. Commiting a large presence to the streets the Police force rounded up 15 youngsters who were caught drinking alchohol.
